 good for the first few weeks but... January 13, 2010

i purchased the diaper champ because i wanted to be able to use kitchen bags. i like that feature...no need to purchase additional bags. the diaper champ was a convenience item for my daughter's first 8 to 10 weeks. it was easy to toss her diaper in the diaper champ and forget about it. however, after around week 10, her diapers started to smell a bit more. since that point, i have no longer used the diaper champ because the smells were just too strong. so it is sitting unused in the nursery. i am glad that i had it for those first few weeks because it made things that much easier when my sleep depraved body didn't feel like doing much. i'm glad that i have it for my next child. but now that i don't use it at all because the smell was quite strong, i had to give it a lower rating.
additional info: i now throw away my daipers in the kitchen trash and just throw out each day. very easy. my daughter is 100% breast fed so i don't know if that makes a difference with diapers. i can't imagine using one of these containers once real food is introduced.

many plus' to the diaper champ; can use regular trash bags, does not give off an odor, at least not yet and we have been using it for 2 months, and its sturdy. We can go a whole week without emptying it, so far with a 2 mo old, which i find pretty impressive myself. Really its a good product, promise!

I found myself frustrated with this diaper pail because it was advertised as being for disposible or cloth diapers but like others have said, cloth diapers are really too bulky for it. You end up having to empty them frequently. I was washing them myself and it was awkward, I usually had too small of a load to justify running in the wash, and so was having to store diapers in yet another bucket until I had a laundry load. And yes on the wipes and tabs having to be tucked in. Unless the diapers are tucked in a ball neatly it gets hung up.

We were looking for something to replace our old diaper bucket - and we love the "Diaper Champ". It keeps the smell in, is easy to use, and my favorite, it gives my abundance of plastic grocery bags a use :-)

Best choice for a diaper pail I've found. Less stinky than others, but also uses any regular trash bag so you don't need to keep expensive refills on hand.
