I have the model that you don't have to "tap" to get it to turn on. I just stand on it and it gives me a reading, which is nice. It is very consistent in readings, I can get on 5 times and it will give me the same reading as long as I hold perfectly still. I like that the weight stays on the display for a moment so that I don't have to look down at it the whole time.
The only thing that I do not like, and the reason that I'm only giving it 4 stars, is that the weight is off. I had gone to the doctor the day before I got this scale, and when I got on after having auto calibrate, it gave me a reading that was 4.2lbs higher than what I was at the doctor. To test this, I grabbed a 5lb bag of flour and weighed it. Sure enough, it gave me a reading of 9.2. I took the batteries out for a minute and then had it auto-calibrate again and it's still reading higher. The one thing that I'll give it, is that it's consistently off that much, so at least all I have to to is take away 4.2lbs from the reading it gives me.

Have had this scale for about a month now and so far I am very pleased with the quality and consistency of the measurements. I also like that it takes standard AAA batteries because a previous scale I owned didn't, and we pretty much had to throw it away when it ran out of juice.
The scale just looks cool too.
I agree with some of the previous reviewers when they say that they have trouble turning the scale on--you have to sort of slap it with your foot to wake it up. But that is far from a complaint...

I have had many scales in the past, and have had varying degrees of success with them. I must say this scale is the best one I have used and is at a great price. It is quick and easy to use and reads the weight properly. It looks great too!! This is a must have if you want a digital scale!

I had wondered if I should be covering the scale with waterproof after every use, but on receipt of the Eatsmart scale it was a delight to watch. This well designed and water resistant product is really good and functions well. I really love it and it is a good house mate. I recommend it to every bathroom in all households. Kudus to the designers and all those involved in producing the Eatsmart Digital Bathroom scale with extra backlit 3.5" Display and Step-n Technology.
